STRATEGIC GOALS
Strategic Goal 1 | Good corporate governance |
Goal statement | To promote and contribute to good corporate governance , social and human capital development through timely and adequate outwards and internal reporting, adequate risk management and internal control systems, implementation of PFMA and related regulations ,develop and implement policies and strategies in support of the strategic and operational plans, empowerment of individual employees ,enhanced stakeholders participation and evaluation of performance management. |

Strategic Goal 4 | Increased participation and excellence in sport |
Goal statement | To maximise access, development and excellence at all levels of participation in sport and recreation by increasing the number of people in Limpopo participating in sport and recreation from 4 % (184 395) to 8 % (434 923) by 2014. |

PROGRAMME 1: ADMINISTRATION
This programme is constituted by the following sub-programmes;
- Sub-programme 1 :Office of the MEC
- Sub-Programme 2: Corporate Services
Programme Purpose:
To conduct the overall management and administrative support of the Department
Sub-Programme Office of the MEC
Purpose: To provide administrative, client liaison and support service to the MEC
Sub-programme: Corporate Services
Purpose: To render an internal and external communication and marketing service, manage the overall administration of the Department which includes financial management (including Supply chain management & risk management), including strategic planning ,human resource management and development, records management, messenger services, legal administration and transport services.

PROGRAMME 2: CULTURAL AFFAIRS
Programme structure
The Cultural Affairs programme consists of three sub-programmes, namely;

- Museum and Haritage Resource Services
- Language Services
Programme Purpose
To promote culture, conserve and manage the cultural, historical assets and resources of the province by rendering various services.
Sub-Programme: Arts and Culture
Purpose: To conserve, promote and develop culture.
Sub-programme: Museums and Heritage Resource Services
Purpose:To manage heritage resources in the province
Sub-programme: Language Services
Purpose: To promote and render language services in the Limpopo

The library and information services programme consists of two sub-programmes, namely,

Programme Purpose
To assist local library authorities in rendering of library services and providing of an archive service in the province in terms of the national archives act
Sub-programme : Library Services
Purpose: To provides for free, equitable, accessible library and information services in support of people development and life long learning and contributes to improvement of quality of life.
Sub-programme: Archives
Purpose: To provide archive support services in terms of the National Archives Act and any other relevant legislation.

PROGRAMME 4: SPORT AND RECREATION
Programme structure
The programme consist of three sub-programmes namely,
- Sports
- Recreation
- School sport
Programme Purpose
- To contribute towards the promotion of sport and recreation to contribute towards social cohesion and development of community through the provision of equitable, accessible and affordable facilities, programmes and services.
- To promote a healthy lifestyle and develop school sport by ensuring mass participation development of talent and proper administration of school sport.
Sub-Programme : Sports
Purpose: To develop talented athletes, provision of high performance services, sport development and capacity building programmes to support excellence in sport in collaboration with the national academy system and sport Federations.
Sub-programme: Recreation
Purpose: To develop of multi purpose sport and recreation facilities, provide sustainable recreation / mass participation programmes and structure as well as creating opportunities to all sporting communities across the age spectra in order to live a physically active life style.
Sub-programme: School sport
Purpose: To ensure proper team delivery to inter-provincial school sport competitions as well as to promote active mass participation of all learners that will lead to the identification of talented athletes for a sustainable sport and recreation environment.
