MEC Profile

MEC Onicca Moloi cut her teeth in politics as active member of the South African Student Congress (SASCO). She was provincial treasurer of SASCO between 2001 and 2002.

Moloi later graduated into the ANC Youth League politics upon her election as member of the league's provincial executive committee in 2003.

After the ANC Youth League was disbanded in 2013, she was appointed member of a task team that was responsible for rebuilding branches of the league in Limpopo province. At the same time, she was spokesperson of the task team.

Following the 2014 general elections, Moloi was elected as member of the Limpopo Legislature.
However, she was not new to the legislature. Prior to her election as MPL, she had worked as a researcher in the Office of ANC Chief Whip, in the Limpopo Legislature, since 2003.

As MPL, she was chairperson of the portfolio committee on sport, arts and culture, the position she held until 14 September 2016 when Premier Stanley Mathabatha appointed her as MEC for the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture.

She is the youngest Member of the Executive Council in Limpopo.

The married mother of three has also been a professional chef since 2004. She holds a Political Science Degree and is concurrently pursuing two Honours Degrees with Unisa and Wits University.
